BioMark innovating in the water research field

The Porto Water Innovation Week is about innovation around water and brought together more than 900 participants from the most diverse areas of knowledge. And as it comes to innovation, the startups were special guests, with a competition among 16 finalists from 28 international applications. Biomark, Sensor Research is not a startup, but a research group from ISEP, which will present in a simplified form, strips of modified paper, such as those used in urine tests, but to measure the levels of antibiotics in the aquatic environment, if they are above or below the ideal, explained Goreti Sales of ISEP, responsible for this research. “The idea is simple but it can result in huge savings for the aquaculture industry because it knows exactly the quantities of antibiotic to use and is equally critical to protecting the environment.” In addition, says the researcher, “paper is modified for antibiotics but can be changed to other substances “.

The Congress on innovation in water ran from September 24th to 29th, at Alfândega do Porto.
